Citizens for California Reform Needs Signatures
Veronica Hill is a very dear friend of mine, as is her husband Jason. I got to visit with them in late October when I was on my journey out West. They both are natives of California, and are trying to raise a family in these challenging times. Perhaps you're unaware of the massive financial trouble California is facing, and the growing unrest of its citizens.
Veronica has a friend Jamie that sent her an email about a group of California residents who have also had enough of Politics as Usual. These citizens want to get an Initiative on the ballot and need your help if you are a citizen, and I assume, a registered voter in California. Jamie wrote to Veronica:
Hello all,It's time to take our State back from the career politicians that are destroying it. A group called Citizens for California Reform has constructed the Citizens Legislature Act which, if approved by the California voters, would change our full time legislatures into part time and reduce their pay by 50%. California Legislatures now receive $113,000 per year salary plus $162.00 per day per diem (tax free), living allowances, plus many other perks (highest paid in the country).
These legislatures make a great deal of money and consistently fail our hard working citizens. Currently 43 of the 50 states have part time legislatures and prior to 1966 California was part time as well. It's time we call the full time idea a failure and rid our state of full time career politicians who's number one priority is themselves.
In order to get this on the 2010 ballot one million signatures must be collected in approximately 140 days. Please go to the web site for Citizens for California Reform to get additional information and to download the petition. Each petition can be signed by two registered voters as long as they are registered to vote in the same county. The petition does require 8.5"x14" paper and will not count if printed on the wrong size paper. If you would rather not download from the site, let me know and I can send it to you.
Please spread the word (email, facebook, phone), if everyone educated their family and friends on the matter and got them to sign the petition we should be able to draw up enough signatures to get this on the ballot. This can't be done without our action. It's time for the silent majority to make some noise.
