Joe Biden's Smartass Comment
Vice President Joe Biden was in Milwaukee, WI on Friday June 25, 2010. He was there campaigning for Democratic Senator Russ Feingold. While in the City of Festivals, Biden visited a suburban restaurant and evidently wasn't too pleased with a comment made by its manager.
The manager of Kopp's Frozen Custard shop mentioned that if Biden would lower taxes, he could have the frozen custard treat he was eating at no cost. FOXNews.com reported that Biden uttered a few moments later, "Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time?"
You can hear the manager's question at the end of a video shot by WISN-TV, but Vice President Biden walked away not responding. His "smartass" reply must have happened just after the video stopped.
Let's assume Biden made the rude comment to the manager. If so, it's just another piece of evidence screaming about how out of touch some politicians are with us, their bosses.
Vice President Biden may have thought the manager was a smartass, or even worse, but he is expected to keep that bottled up inside. You bet his public-relations handler, if he has one, wished he would have replied, "Sir, lowering taxes is something we should look at. If my memory serves me right, I believe in the 1980's we lowered taxes and the USA experienced a massive economic growth spurt. I'll remind my colleagues of this back in DC and we'll see if we can't honor your request."
But no, Biden was a victim of amygdala hijacking (thank you Professor Laura Beauvais Ph.D. - URI). He didn't stop to think before he opened his custard hole.
This is why we need to fire (not re-elect) politicians who think the way Biden does - or should I say not think.
All the national democrats have are distractions, lies and smears to sell or protect their secular socialist policies....so that is what you see...day after day.
=====
The national democrats (aka secular socialists) have no ethical or moral boundaries so never be shocked by what they say or do.
Once ALL voters realize and apply these two principles...all the daily political insanity makes sense.
Doug Schexnayder, PhD (ret) on July 12, 2010 8:10 PMFriends~ I came across mention of a House bill, H.R.4646, that has been proposed and passed to committees, that proposes to put a 1%tax on all financial transactions. This transaction fee would apply to check, cash, credit card, atm, stock and bond transfers, and retail and wholesale sales. This bill is referred to as the “Debt-free America Act”. Duh! There is mention that this “fee” would go to reduce the deficit and would repeal after 2017 the individual income tax. Did you ever see a Democratic Party proposed fee/tax get repealed???? This bill has been proposed by Rep. Chaka Fattah D-PA. Rep. Chaka Fattah was born Arthur Davenport. Rep. Fattah has been criticized by the Phila-delphia Police for his repeated calls to to grant a new trial to Mumia Abu Jamal who murdered a police officer! Rep. Fattah had to return campaign money for unethical spending following a settlement with local govt. officials. Rep. Fattah’s family has also changed their names and have been involved with building an “urban Boys Town” called House of Umoja”. (this is Swahili for “unity”) Fattah’s mother has adopted the name “Queen Mother Falaka Fattah” and she is Director and Founder of this non-profit. Of course, as Director she draws a salary. Soooooo, people here is another tax quietly squirming it’s way through the socialist channels by a member of Congress!! Please spread the word and voice your objections to our friends and lawmakers so that this travesty doesn’t get past committees where it is now. Rep. Chaka Fattah is on the Appropriations Committee. Do we want him to appropriate our dollars??? This is all verified on the neat website www.govtrack.us.
Chuck on July 12, 2010 10:09 PMOh, my!! For years I have been preaching in favor of a transaction tax of 3% I would have every citizen given a digital card which would exempt that person's first $500-1000 worth of transactions. That card would be renewed each month with balance rollover. Each state treasury would deduct a percentage of the take according to the number of legal citizens in residence. Under such a system, every citizen of the US would pay and receive back the same amount of money. And the dope peddlers along with the Wall Street tycoons would pay their fare share!! No more, no less.
Chuck Lambert on July 12, 2010 10:27 PMSomehow the clause "which would replace ALL OTHER TAXES" got left out (should have followed 3%) I guess my HTML for italics was incorrect.
Chuck Lambert on July 12, 2010 10:30 PMYa know, all this is fine for everyone to comment their little comments here, and I have to Thank Tim Carter for his fire pit and really appreciate his forum. But,. I have a problem. My problem is we as a society are so fragmented with all the technology we have. Everyone can post this, and post that and on it goes with few listening. Sure, I belong to congress.org and I do send many , so many emailes to my senators that I am sure they are tired of hearing from me. BUt what does it accomplish? My self satisfaction that I let them know how I feel on how they vote. Big woopy. DO they care, I doubt it. I am just 1 individual with 1 little email to them. It is meaningless to them. We as a Nation of Americans, once were held in esteem with our Government back in the 60's. We didn't have the internet, cell phones, DSL, IDSL, HTTP, HTTPS.
Jim Healey on July 12, 2010 10:31 PMNo, What we had, was each other walking hand in hand in harmony. What has happened to us? Why have we become so lax? Back then, we all went to Washington, we all stood by each other, whites, blacks, none of that mattered back then. We all had one cause. When did we change and become so fragmented? Race is someting I thought was history, and yet I see so much of it written these days. Politics, My GOD, we would have stomped them in a dirt hole back then. We as a Nation have to come back together as One voice United to stand together, hand in hand again for this Nation Under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all! We need to come back together once again. Being so fragmented, how do we re-format to do so? I am afraid that we are past the point of reformation and the corporations will win their positions if we do not COME TOGETHER AGAIN AND DO IT SOON. I loved the 60's. We were one, we were something that all Washington took notice of. We were One and yet we were also individuals with a comoon cause that was good and we changed so many things for the better. What happened to us? We didn't all die yet. It is time once again to come together as One and Unite as one once more before we no longer have any voice! Let's start here and go forth!! Washington is nothing with out us!
I think many congressmen/women listen to whoever shouts the loudest, hence we have half the senate affraid to offend extremists with megaphones..... or fear mongering radio shows.
Like my father always said: " when you start listening to fear and hate, you've stopped listening to reason."
All this talk of "socialism" is mindless.
All modern societies (including ours) is a ballance between Capitolism and Socialism.
After Carter every administration has given Wall Street what it wanted.... some less, some way more...and now we're in a ditch because of it.
To prevent us from sinking into the stone age the Federal Government, as the ONLY institution that could or would spend money, did. It HAD to and NO ONE likes that fact. Get over it.
We need ballance and we'll get it, but I'll offer two caviats:
1. "Fascism will come to America in the guise of anti-fascism"
Derek on July 13, 2010 2:04 PM2. "It's easy to control people. Just get them to fear something."
DEMOCRAT LOVE OBJECT…RACISM
Here we are in mid-2010 and the demo-socialists have shown how America goes since they took Congress in 2007. Quick, cue the distraction.
Now its time for their best ploy, their ole faithful, their trusted smear distraction…and the winner is….”racism” (again).
Thinking voters know my theory that “all democrats have are distractions, lies and smears to promote or protect their beloved secular socialism” is validated once more.
Racism is such a precious demo-distraction from actually explaining the meltdown of America and their kook policies. It works every time its tried.
Being democrats, they are not bound by ethics or morals so the blizzard of lies has again appeared. Now talk radio and TV are distracted somewhat from the failed secular socialist bills pushed thru by the democrats to buzz on about racism. We are subjected to the usual demo-liars pretending its 1850 to deliberately excite democrat pet voters so they show in November. Sound like a rerun? You bet.
The “victim worship” train has left the station for another pre-election ride thru the fawning media. The Tea Party is not backing off from demanding fiscal sanity from the democrat congress. This stance is a mortal sin so they MUST be smeared by the faithful cadre of lying clowns.
Insert big yawn here.
Democrats can’t fool all thinking people all the time but they sure try.
Doug Schexnayder, PhD (ret) on July 13, 2010 3:58 PMAre you seeing what is happening in Louisiana? Are they trying to shut down the New Orleans area? People are voluntarily saying they believe that is the case and it sure feels like it. Beware folks - our area won't be the last.
Barbara on July 15, 2010 6:36 PMI think Chuck Lambert and Jim Healey posting here make perfect sense. Please re-read their posts. This country needs to unite, not what is currently engaged in. It turns my stomach to see such blatant distortions of the truth and the finger pointing from both sides is just mind boggling. WE need to work TOGETHER and people need to be ENGAGED or we are bound to simply slide towards marginialism in the world. Americans by nature are some of the worlds most inventive and courageous people on the planet and have weathered many storms in the past 250 years. It's time to stand TOGETHER to fix things that have gone completely out of control no matter who originated it. Stop all the whining about so-called socialism and race and get engaged. Enough is enough. Apathy is our worst enemy, not each other.
