Michele Bachmann - American Jobs Right Now Slogan Facts
On Sunday October 9th I was the point man for the Lakes Region Tea Party that helped get Michele Bachmann to do a town hall meeting for our Tea Party in Moultonboro, NH. The event ran from about 3:30 - 5:00 pm. Not only did I get the honor of introducing Michele to the audience, but I also got to ride on her campaign bus from Moultonboro to Meredith, NH. That's when it happened. When what happened?
Days before the event I was working with the top people of the New Hampshire Michele Bachmann campaign - Jeff Chidester and Karen Testerman. As crazy as this sounds I didn't know they were the leaders of the New Hampshire Bachmann campaign at the time.
About three days before the event I got a phone call from Karen and an email from Jeff asking me if I wanted to ride on the bus with Michele and her staff after the event. Talk about a captive audience! The answer was Yes! I was also allowed to invite three other people.
Two of the people I invited were unable to make it on the bus, but Barbara Carlson, her assistant Nikki and Karen Testerman boarded with me.
Also on the bus were five of Michele's national staff as well as the bus driver. I was not introduced to them, but I was sitting next to what I believe was her chief of staff, Mr. Keith Nahigian of Nahigian Strategies.
I had the opportunity to share with Michele my idea about how to get her on Page One of Google for thousands of very important keyword search terms. I did it for her the next day. Just go type into Google: Michele Bachmann Auto Bailout. You should see two entries on page one that relate to me. A thumbnail of the YouTube video I shot at New England College and the page it rests on at our Lakes Region Tea Party site.
Here's a screen shot of what I see at Google when I do it. I Just below the video, that's the video I shot, was the other listing for the page at our Tea Party site.

She liked my video idea, but her national staff has ignored my repeated requests to help train the Iowa, South Carolina and Florida Tea Party members so it can happen. Oh well, what can you say? But I digress.
After about 15 minutes, Michele, Barbara, Nikki and Karen started talking about Barb's new book that has a few pages about Michele. I was just a spectator at that point.
The next thing I know there was a tap on my arm.
Keith said, "Tim, you seem to be really passionate about all of this. We're rolling out Michele's new Jobs Plan tomorrow and we have yet to put a title on it. What would you call it?"
I was really caught off guard as I had no idea what the main points of the plan were. I hemmed and hawed and thought about it.
You know how most men can't multi-task but women can? Well, Michele was monitoring the dialog between Keith and I. She never looked at us, as she seemed to be intently engaged in the conversation with the other three women.
Finally I blurted out, "Real Jobs Right Now."
All other conversation stopped and instantly Michele, snapped her head and looked directly at Keith and me.
"I LIKE that. I like that a lot," she quipped.
Keith even said it had a ring to it.
A little over a week later Michele participated in the Presidential Candidate debate in Nevada. No less than three times she uttered my phrase in her comments during the debate. Word for word!
I went to her website the next day, and there it was. Well, almost. Being an attorney and perhaps wanting to avoid a copyright issue she modified my catch phrase slightly. Or perhaps she changed it because it sounds better.
Last night Michele was being interviewed by Sean Hannity on his FoxNews program. The topic was the messy situation between Michele and her NH Campaign Staff. She pivoted quickly talking about how new campaign people are being hired and then segued into how her new jobs plan is the ticket. Then she said my phrase word for word again at 1:14 into the interview. "Real Jobs Right Now".
But we all know where it came from. Well, all of us on the bus that is.
If Michele happens to get elected - and it can be traced partially to this plank in her campaign, I'd sure like to feel how soft the mattress is in the Lincoln bedroom. :->
Now you know the facts. Let's see how they play out.

Tim; Glad to see you had an opportunity to meet with your candidate of choice and it must have been personally satisfying in so many ways to meet a presidential candidate and actually offer something that they appear to be using! That has to be blowing your mind that a presidential candidate needed to meet with you in order to ocme up with a slogan. Fantastic! If only she weren't still in single digits in most polls and a 'personality' like Herman Cain would actually be leading the pack. Personally I think the Republican party is in it pretty deep if he is their guy. He seems like he's more of a pitchman that's about as deep as a puddle on most issues. Thoughts?
COMMENT BY Tim Carter:
Tom,
It was pretty interesting being on the bus. My wife and I were shocked when she first said the phrase in the debate.
Herman is electrifying the crowd because he's NOT a politician.
As for experience, he's got so much more than our current President who's never held down a real job.
Herman is quite possibly just what we need now.
His heart is in the right place. He's not a puppet of George Soros.
Kathy and I got to meet Herman this past February here in NH. He was the keynote speaker at the Lincoln-Reagan dinner we attended.
Before you're too quick to discount Herman, be sure to create a spreadsheet comparing him to Obama.
List all of their previous qualifications and life experiences.
I believe that Obama will only have Xs in three rows: community organizer, state senator, US Senator.
Tom Angell on October 26, 2011 9:31 AMShe may actually be a bit too conservative to be elected. What she definitely needs to do is get off this kick of how many foster kids she's raised--while it's admirable it has absolutely nothing to do with becoming president.
Tom Krimminger on October 26, 2011 10:09 AMThank you for the heads up on the Bachmann campaign.
……. Yesterday I heard President Obama make a scripted comment regarding the potential Republican candidates. That he was just waiting to see who is next to gets kicked off of the island.
It was a great sound bite, but I’m sure he knows all to well that a whole lot of us out here are working very hard to get it him kicked off of that DC island next!
Clay Lamb on October 26, 2011 10:25 AMI watched Hannity last night and frankly I am tired of her rhetoric already. She has too much I's in her sentences and she doesn't need to impress anybody about all the good she's done. We know and it's alright....just get to the point on what she is really going to do for our country, the budget cuts, freedoms brought back and our constitution being honored and upheld. GOD brought back into everything we do and kick the idiots that claim to be Christians off the platform they have created for themselves. HERMAN has my vote and that's all I can say.....NEWT GINGRICH & HERMAN....THAT WOULD BE A SUPER PAIR FOR CANDIDATES.
Yvonne Maria Fields on October 26, 2011 11:12 AMSincerly, in HIM.......
Tim,
tk on October 26, 2011 11:30 AMwhom are you "leaning" toward at this time?
thanks
tk
Tim, thanks for your passion, but I sense you are a bit star struck!
I am concerned about Ms. Bachmann's electability and am also concerned with her inclination to take pot shots for easy applause and sound bite stardom. Everybody is unhappy with the current state of affairs, but that doesn't count as a real platform. I think this is a real problem for her campaign and I think she is getting poor coaching. She is a much better candidate than she puts forth in the debates.
If she is your candidate, perhaps we can hear less about your bus trip, less about your distaste for the Administration and more about Ms. Bachmann's actual plans.
COMMENT BY Tim Carter:
Mark,
Michele is a real patriot. Months ago she was my candidate. But after the past two weeks, I'm looking elsewhere. I see some troubling things now that I've been able to get so close.
What I would love to have, and it's a fantasy, is a hybrid candidate. I'd take some of Michele, lots of Newt, lots of Herman's business savvy and add a tiny pinch of Ron.
Mark on October 26, 2011 11:31 AMThanks, but where does that leave us? After all, this is a one person job. You are correct that a hybrid candidate is a fantasy. The Republican Party seems to be unable to find a direction and a clear focus. If this goes on much longer, we'll simply be gearing up for 2016. Focus, focus, focus! I encourage you to use your platform to help move this along.
Enough about Ms. Bachmann, if she is not your candidate. Thanks again for your passion, but time is a'wastin'!
Mark on October 26, 2011 11:59 AMThanks Tim, for representing us, America. I'm glad you were able to name the jobs act. Pretty neat. I wish you were just a little bit more influential and could get the current "president" to do something actually good for America. The news this morning about totally disarming our system to make nice to Russia is truly scary. Every day he comes up with something else to ruin this country!! Keep up the great work, Tim.
Dave on October 26, 2011 12:12 PMOn the surface of it I like her rhetoric about the tax system. I would also like to see a real training right now. There are many jobs going wanting because people don't have the skills. College is important, but I think trade schools are, at this time in our history, more important. I am a CNC programmer and these job skills are vanishingly rare in our country now. Just look at job listings for Machinists. It is part of the reason other nations are out competing us. They know that education is the key, AND, that the trades are the backbone of society. Our nation is falling far behind on this front.
Arthur Sherry on October 26, 2011 12:29 PMAt least Michelle Bachmann has a brain, unlike Sarah Palin. She might make a rather good president.
Lewis Brand on October 26, 2011 12:43 PMTim,
While I like Michelle I don't think she could beat Obama. My honest opinion is that only Newt Gingrich has the Conservative credentials and experience that would allow him to take over the reigns of Government on day one. It is ludicrous when people say Newt has to much baggage. What? More than the guy we have now? So he fell out of love with his wife, only Democrats are allowed to get a divorce? Newt would be a very tough challenger and the contrast between him and Obama in debates would be obvious. Newt can talk without a teleprompter and Obama can't. I wouldn't count Newt out just yet, he is the only candidate of substance that wouldn't fold under the dirty politics we will see in this election from the Obama campaign. Romney is just Obama light and while I like Herman Cain he is to much of an unkown when it comes to going up against Obama, we can't take the chance. Maybe as VP.
swann2001 on October 26, 2011 2:34 PMWell, so glad to hear you were with Michelle, and of course also glad to have your Fire Pit for balance to the rest of my readings about this election. I, however will not vote for a candidate who has no military background. I feel that is quite important. Our various wars to date have sent too many young folks to pay the price of freedom. And no more hopey loopy changey thing either!
Sara Sherrard on October 26, 2011 4:35 PMGood article Tim, not really sure how to comment tho.....Michele just doesn't strike me a being the president...neither does Herman Cain, will absolutely not vote for him.....I'm thinking Romney....and definitely not Newt Gingrich.......
Mona on October 26, 2011 5:52 PMTim - Just for your info the Tea Party got hijacked by the likes of Michelle & Sarah , But the Real Tea Party Original is Ron Paul & quite frankly nobody comes close to Dr Ron Paul who is America's last hope in 2012 .
Sonny on October 26, 2011 7:31 PMTim, you are in a great position to be one of the new NH Bachmann campaign members to replace the ones that recently resigned.
Greg Johnson on October 26, 2011 10:11 PMI see all these comments. I must be missing something. I do not see ANY Presidential Candidates in the wings anywhere with the exception of the Pizza Guy as a possible contender. Everyone else has their own agenda and I don't feel they give a Rats Ass about America or the American People. We need a New Party and New People to run for Office with Term limits to end Career Politicians who are in the pockets of lobyists, Corporations and others. This all must end and those in Office need to be prosecuted, some for treason. My thoughts and feelings only, not to be associated to any website, news site or any other blog in cyber space.
Jimh77 on October 26, 2011 11:01 PMMichelle was my first choice earlier in the year. Her views have become to far to the right for me, plus she has interjected to much religion for me also. She would be a great Tresuary Secretary. My support is for Herman Cain and Newt. Newt is the smartest of the group and would tear Obumer up in a debate. Cain owes no one and knows how to select people to get things done. That was Regans strong point, in surrounding himself with strong people. The main problem will be getting the RNC to back a non RINO candidate.
Chuck Harrison on October 26, 2011 11:30 PMTim, Great job you are doing. Michelle Bachmann is still in my top 4. Still a lot of time to see how all plays out. I love Herman Cain and Newt the best too. BUT a reminder...that every one of these Republican candidates ARE electable and would make a much better president than Obama. Don't let the media buzz affect your thinking, folks! They are trying to pick our nominee again.
Linda Bradley on October 27, 2011 1:07 AMSara,
Cain does not have any direct military experience. However, he did spend six years in the United States Department of Navy, which provides operational and organizational support for both the Navy and Marines.
Paul served as a USAF flight surgeon in the 60’s. Following his Air Force service, Paul enlisted in the Air National Guard from 1965 to 1968.
Perry joined the USAF in 1972 and served with distinction for five years. He was discharged in 1977 with the rank of Captain. While in the Air Force, Perry was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, Germany and Saudi Arabia. He was assigned to fly the C-130, a military transport aircraft, and flew to various locations around the world, including Europe, South America and Africa.
BobInVA on October 27, 2011 2:47 AMTom Angell,
BobInVA on October 27, 2011 3:25 AMIf you think that Herman Cain is only deep as a puddle, then you have not done your homework. Take a look at his bio. Even better, go to youtube and take a look at him taking Clinton down a few pegs when Clinton was pitching Hillary's Health Plan.
I am not surprised Herman Cain won the latest Straw Poll. I like him, and I am tired of politics as usual in the Republican Party. Herman has tons of business experience, and life's experience. I could see him running for President with Gingrich or Bachman as Vice President. America wants a change accross the board, and I agree.
Connie M. on October 27, 2011 12:13 PMI was impressed that Jon Huntsman got a few votes in your Tea Party straw poll. I really did not expect that!!
Jon Huntsman would be an excellent candidate for the Presidency. I think he could win.
John C on October 27, 2011 3:08 PMBy the way, I hope the New Hampshire Tea Party has its you-know-what together more than the group up here in Maine! This was in the paper yesterday:
'Andrew Ian Dodge, founder of the organization Maine Tea Party Patriots and challenger to Olympia Snowe, says "There were people saying, 'Yes, I think we should default [on the nation's debt obligations],' and there were the rest of us saying, 'You’re insane.' Now I'm emphasizing my Tea Party links even less because a lot of people think they are the crazy people who almost drove us off a cliff."'
