National Political Threat Advisory
I'm very upset. My wife Kathy is even more upset. We just finished watching Glenn Beck's show on FoxNews. Today's show was probably the most powerful one I've ever seen.
Why are we upset? If you read this blog of mine regularly and follow my feelings, you know I'm pretty concerned about the future of the country. Well now, I've borrowed something from the Department of Homeland Security. I call it:

Effective today the threat level is red. It doesn't get any more dangerous than that. Thanks to my very dear friend Veronica Hill for producing the above graphic. Another great friend, Chuck Eglinton sent me the first one, as well as five other subscribers. Thanks so much to all for sending in your graphics.
It's red because of the extreme measures that Congress is going to to try to get the Health Care Bill passed. Today they exposed a trick where they can "deem" something passed. It's a dusty old rule that some previous Congress put into play. We MUST stop this. It's absolute insanity.
Add to that the Executive Powers that, over time, have been granted to the President of the United States. These powers have become too extreme as can be seen by the below chart that was shown today on Glenn Beck's show. This chart was created by by Phil Kerpen at Americans for Prosperity.

Do you understand it? Do you see how President Obama has bypassed Congress on several initiatives? This is not what the Founding Fathers had in mind. Have other Presidents done this? Yes. Does this power need to be scaled back? You bet it does.
The bottom line is that you and I need to put the brakes on. It's time for a hard reset. We absolutely need to put in office true patriots that will honor the Constitution, not try to twist and bend it.
Will you help me? Will you now devote your life to preserve the Republic? We are engaged in hand-to-hand combat with progressive forces that absolutely want to concentrate power and grow government. The evidence is everywhere.
Show me you will join me. Pledge to do it in a comment below. Tell me what you'll do. You have many options. You can pledge to call and write your representatives Monday through Friday. You can pledge money and donate it to causes that are trying to put true patriots in office. You can pledge to go to the next Tea Party meeting or event. You can pledge to start to contact all your friends and neighbors. You can pledge to run for office yourself.
But you must pledge. If you don't, you may regret it. I beg you not to utter the words months or years from now: Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.
We have domestic enemies who are trying to rip the Constitution to shreds. If you don't believe me, watch today's Glenn Beck show once it's loaded to his website.
This is the worst President I have seen in my lifetime. Jimmy Carter has to be happy that O'bama came along to take the title as "Idiot in Chief" away from him.
Russell on March 16, 2010 7:29 PMWILL CONTINUE TO E-MAIL ELECTED OFFICIALS IN DC.
EDWARD FULTZ on March 16, 2010 7:41 PMTHESE LATEST ACTIONS BY OUR PRES. AND HIS CRONIES TO GET WHAT HE WANTS ARE ACTS OF TREASON AND INSANITY AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED.
I have been doing all I can & I promise Iwill continue to protect this great nation from the likes of the Communist, Obama
Joel Price on March 16, 2010 7:41 PMI and my husband will be attending a new, local tea party movement. I am a supporter of the 9.12 project and we are signed up to attend a seminar on the Making of the Constitution. We both pledge to continue to read, and pass along what we learn to our friends and family. We have made calles, faxed and sent letters to our elected officials.
I think next I will buy them all new hearing aid batteries!!
Tricia D. on March 16, 2010 7:51 PMwhatever it takes----I remember my manual of arms from 1951 and my vow to protect and defend the constitution from all enemies, domestic and foreign.
robert bayer on March 16, 2010 8:04 PMSorry Tim, I won't help you.
I wish Mr. Beck would stop presenting his opinions as "fact" until he has checked them out. I'm sick of his paranoia masquerading as patriotism. Just because he doesn't like what his President is doing does not make it unconstitutional, or illegitimate. Presidents are allowed to use whatever powers they have to accomplish their goals, just as Congress and the Supreme Court can do. Republicans didn't seem to mind when their guy started warrantless wiretaps on American citizens. The Constitution did not give him this power, in spite of what his lapdog lawyers may have told him. Republicans lost the last presidential election. They don't seem to realize that. So they try to portray everything President Obama does as illegal, unconstitutional, Nazi, socialist, communist, unethical, or illegitimate instead of respecting the office of President and participating in the hard work of solving our problems.
There's more to being a true patriot than simply discrediting everything you don't like and demonizing the people you disagree with.
Steve Abell on March 16, 2010 8:08 PMI will continue to write my representatives. I will donate my time and resources to stop this insanity
Ron McClelland on March 16, 2010 8:13 PMIt does not matter who used these tactics they are WRONG and must be stopped and every law that was passed using what Pelosi wants to do today must be declared unlawful and repealed and go back and clean up our house. We must stop going down this slippery slope to destruction. If I could do the art work I would. We must stop this insanity.
Sarah on March 16, 2010 8:21 PMIt does not matter who used these tactics they are WRONG and must be stopped and every law that was passed using what Pelosi wants to do today must be declared unlawful and repealed and go back and clean up our house. We must stop going down this slippery slope to destruction. If I could do the art work I would. We must stop this insanity.
Sarah on March 16, 2010 8:21 PMIn reply to Mr. Abel regarding his praise of Obama. First, it is obvious you voted for the man. Your choice. I respect that. However, no one likes to have something forced upon them by anyone. If health care needs to be changed, let the people that will be most affected make the changes and let the people of the United States vote either for or against the bill. If it passes by majority of the people, then it is law. It is truly apparent that the elected "representatives" are not listening to the people that elected them. They are trying to force a law upon us that we the "Affected" need to decide whether or not it becomes law. Kind of like "Taxation Without Representation" and no one likes that even though we have it. So yes, I will help Tim in the fight against "Insanity" because I do not like to have a law forced upon me by anyone. Have a nice day.
Gerald Davis on March 16, 2010 8:33 PMI will continue to do all that I can. I have emailed and called my Representatives. I'm lucky--I live in Oklahoma and they all agree that Obama must be stopped.
Dana Dunn on March 16, 2010 8:57 PMTim I have to admit I voted for Obama because I had enough of the hidden agendas that the Bush Administration had, the lies about Iraq, the suspension of the Davis Bacon Act in Mississippi during the aftermath of Katrina to allow Halliburton to bring in their labor force and get rid of any union workers there. However I also have to admit I'm pretty ticked off at the Obama Administration as well for forcing things down our throats we specifically do not want. It would be great if he focused on getting jobs for those who have none but the bailouts did nothing for that, just rewarded those who put us in this mess in the first place. And it's the same thing with the Universal Health Care Package. Bush's Administration was wrong in how things were done, how they ran rampant over the whole checks and balances system (the illegal wiretaps stand out as a prime example of that) and now Obama - despite his slogan of change - is doing the exact same thing.
Pete Athens on March 16, 2010 9:15 PMYou cannot do this against the will of the American
Roger Hamel on March 16, 2010 9:45 PMpeople. I pray that it fails. What Obama stands for
I fought against in ww-2. Come on patriots stand
up and be counted. May GOD bless the U S A
There's a piece going around the email route. A sea captain notices the crew are smelly and orders their bosun to tell them to change their underwear. So the bosun tells the sailors they need to change underwear, "Charles you change with Smith, Jones change with Jackson, etc." Someone may come along & promise "Change", but don't count on things smelling any better. We were promised change, but the smell is getting worse exponentially.
Jean Ulricksen on March 16, 2010 9:54 PMI write the president and other elected officials regularly and will continue to do so (I expect the men in black suits any day now). I always offer my thoughts on how they can see it differently. I truly think they only count the messages of people who agree with them. I heard today the messages were overwhelmingly to pass it.
The bailout is obviously a slush fund to pass out to those who cooperate with the admin. Enough, I will do what I can, not promising more than writing letters and phone calls, but will do more. Jean
I have been exercising my rights to make my opinion heard as well by writing, emailing and calling my district's elected Representative and our states two Senators concerning the Health Care debate, the out of control spending by Congress and several other issues. I find it almost impossible to believe anyone can seriously believe 30 million people can be added to health care rolls and it will still be "deficit neutral".
Larry Jarrett on March 16, 2010 9:55 PMI intend to become much more involved in tracking voting records and seeing to it that those who ignore the will of the people are removed from office this fall and in 2012.
I agree that our government is out of hand, we elected these people to do what we tell them to do. As soon as they get into that office everything changes. They could care less what you and I think, now all of a sudden they know what is best for us because we don't know how to think anymore.
Douglas Byram on March 16, 2010 10:08 PMAs far as health care, we all know it needs to be changed. No matter what party would have brought it up the other would say its wrong. They do it for every bill that is brought on the floor. I do not think it would cost as much as they say it will. If they would stop adding things to the bill that has nothing to do with healthcare, as they do with every bill, I think its called pork belly, the cost would go down. Those who are against it are being paid by the insurance, pharmaceutical, and any other company that makes a profit on healthcare.
These people need to stop what they are doing and start doing what is right for the American people.
Tim....I will continue doing what I have been. Letters, emails, faxes, phone calls, talking to my friends, neighbors, and family. Thank you for what you are doing!
Paul B Etheridge on March 16, 2010 10:10 PMWhen we allow Washington to defy the will of the people for whatever purpose, we forfeit our rights as a free people and become the subjects of a ruling class2
mike Cabral on March 16, 2010 10:12 PMHas there ever been any other time in our history when the US Army was ordered by a CinC to refrain from dispaying our national ensign? Why does so-called Health Care Reform include a provision by which the federal gov't has full access to my personal bank account, including the power to make involuntary withdrawals? Even ignoring all the other things that are wrong with this horrendous piece of mislegislation, that should be enough to make any thinking person fight against it!!!
Chuck Lambert on March 16, 2010 10:57 PMAt my age (70) plagued with arthritis, I find that no matter what I pledge my body has a way of limiting my activities. Mentally and philosophically I am as fired up as the next person and for the first time I really resent my age. I have made a couple of trips to DC; one to the state capitol; attended 9/12 meetings; contributed to campaigns of self-proclaimed patriots; called and called (found calls to local offices the most rewarding). I am still looking for the niche which would by mutually beneficial. I feel like those of us who have some age on us are the only ones who really appreciate what is at stake. The younger folk need to be rattled out of their complacency. Even my own son thinks I am suffering from dementia, bi-polar, and hoarding, all brought on by the fear mongering cable news folk. (My docs do not agree with his diagnosis)
ann woodward on March 16, 2010 11:03 PMYou are to be commended, Tim, for encouraging people to commit to an activity(ies). I would like to start a study group for either the 5000 Year Leap, or the Constitution. As a retired public school teacher that would fit my skills and experience. There is not a local patriot group in my immediate area, I am new here, but still would like to get a study group growing.
Right on, Tim! I am not an ultra-right wing fanatic. However, I am adamantly opposed to the ultra-left wing, secularist, radicals who are trying to destroy what is great in this country. The price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance. I have written my representatives - fortunately in Texas most of our politicians are not left-wing radicals (but they still are inept).
Philip B Green on March 16, 2010 11:33 PMI am sickened by the latest machinations of the majority in Congress to pass the so called Health Care Reform Bill. Now my representative-Louise Slaughter-is proposing some back door action to bypass the voting process-and the will of her constituents. And with the actions of our President I have never been more fearful for the future of this nation. We have been on a long slide towards being wards of the government. Yes, it is time to stop the insanity and I will do whatever I can to alert friends, neighbors and family to push back against the madness that is threatening to engulf us all.
Jim Tuk on March 16, 2010 11:46 PMRobert Bayer on March 16th clearly said he won't help you. After reading one of the longest postings at this site he said nothing except he was offended by the Bush administration wiretaping without a warrant. NOW, in the interest of NATIONAL SECURITY what do you have to hide Mr. Bayer. Do you also object to taking your shoes off at the airport and have your luggage searched and x-rayed? You're definitely a wiretap candidate. They can listen all day to my conversations. They'd get a few laughs and pointers on how to hang drywall! Get a life my man!
Don Ehresman on March 16, 2010 11:51 PMRobert Bayer on March 16th clearly said he won't help you. After reading one of the longest postings at this site he said nothing except he was offended by the Bush administration wiretaping without a warrant. NOW, in the interest of NATIONAL SECURITY what do you have to hide Mr. Bayer? Do you also object to taking your shoes off at the airport and have your luggage searched and x-rayed? You're definitely a wiretap candidate. They can listen all day to my conversations. They'd get a few laughs and pointers on how to hang drywall! Get a life my man!
Don Ehresman on March 16, 2010 11:53 PMI will continue to do all I can. Never, in all my 70 years, have I witnessed a more dangerous time here in our America.
Richard on March 17, 2010 4:17 AM"These are the Times, That Try Men's Souls"...Thomas Pain, 1776. American Crisis.
History does repeat itself does it not?
To use 'some' of Winston Churhill's and 'some' of Glenn Beck's own words:
We Shall not flag or fail in our quest to maintain our Constitution, Our Liberties and Our Freedoms for we are a country of Men, not of Man. Nor, will those words so stated in our Constitution, be manipulated, and twisted, and silenced...for they are what they are. We shall go on to the end. We Shall fight on in the streets in the fields in the hills, and win not with bullets, but the power of the Vote, that so many have died to defend, and to bring back The Dream of America, for ourselves, for our children and future generations. Let The Dream Live On.
The total U.S. system is going to collapse soon due to ever increasing taxes and hyperinflation to pay for overspending on credit for frivolous "freebees" by Congress.
dampier on March 17, 2010 8:20 AMThe President and Congressional Representatives don't hear nor listen to words of the American people. The health care reform or the unconstitutional process could be the event or events that brings angry American people into the streets.
I have to agree with Mr Bayer here folks. You GlennBeck watchin folks are misinformed and misguided in your zeal to be 'patriotic'. I really do appreciate the fire and brimstone here, but your playing into the hands of the republican big business machine that preys on people like yourselves through fear mongering. It's sad to see but I guess unavoidable. Keep doing the work of the big corporations while they hide behind their gated communities and yachts and take advantage of the hard working Americans and continue to plunder this country. You're being used folks. Follow the money. The country is split 50/50 on healthcare issue, this is a close, heated debate not a railroad job as it is being portrayed as here. If something is that close, it is a close race, not something nobody wants, at laeast haldf the public wants this and the other half have been frightened to death by misinformation and fear tactics from the right. I see this as simply a heated debate on an issue, not a socialist revolution signaling the end of days as is made out to be by Glenn Beck and his minions. C'mon tea-baggers, get off the conspiracy wagon and face reality.
Tom Angell on March 17, 2010 8:48 AM@Tom Angell Tom, with the utmost respect, you're completely wrong. I had an epiphany this morning in the shower. I tend to do my best thinking in there. Sorry, TMI.
I'm writing a new post about this in the Fire Pit, but here's the Cliff's Notes version for you.
The current members of Congress who are still wanting to vote Yes for the Health Care Bill are doing so WHY? Aren't they elected to do the people's work? Can you show me a congressional district, town, city or state where a majority of the citizens WANT this Health Care Bill? You can't. It doesn't exist.
So then, WHY would the member of Congress vote Yes? I'll tell you why. It's an ideological quest to concentrate power. The evidence is in the history books. Go online now to Glenn Beck's website and watch the March 16th show of his. It will forever change your mind.
Tim Carter on March 17, 2010 8:56 AMWhen we go to the polls, it is the majority vote that wins as for Governor, Town meetings etc. When the administration in power does not listen to the will of the people, and says it does not matter what we as a whole want, it aproaches a dictatorship. That is not what America is all about. The people will have the final say and that will be in November.
Bob Neveux on March 17, 2010 9:23 AMI have been writing to my Senators and Representatives, and President Obama, stating that I'm adamantly opposed to the health care "reform" they are pushing. I have stated that I will vote anyone out of office who votes for it. The response letters I receive from them make it seem that I agree with the reform! No one is listening. I am contributing to GOOOH.com (Get Out of Our House) which is working to vote out our current representatives and get new blood in - just like Tim!
Sharon Pannell on March 17, 2010 9:27 AMI will continue to let congress know that we do not like what is going on, and will continue to contribute to conservative candidates nationwide. I will continue to forward info to others. For anyone who does not know of the Michael Caputo effort to Draft Larry Kudlow, please check it out. Just google draft Kudlow. It would be great to get rid of Charles Schumer.
Chris Long on March 17, 2010 9:28 AMTim,
Richard on March 17, 2010 9:34 AMThanks for the fire pit! We have to stop this health care bill or shall I say, "take away somemore of our freedoms bill"? We must stop this madness! Richard
The deals and threats drive me mad. I woke up to it when I watched "Charlie Wilson's War" It opened my eyes to the difference of voting from the heart to voting for favors.
Why is it so hard to get the Supreme Court to do their job? Why does it take some lawsuit to get laws reviewed? Why don't the Justices review bills before they get to the President's desk?
This isn't a Republican or Democrat issue. It goes beyond that. The federal versus state powers have gotten blured and it needs to be corrected. What some people would like the country to be is not what the founding fathers created it to be. If you don't like it, there is the freedom to select other countries. Christians have WWJD. Americans should have WWTFFD. What would the founding fathers do?
I beleive that the only way to make this healthcare bill constitutional is to amend the Constitution. It would never happen and everyone knows it.
Steve Bukosky on March 17, 2010 9:35 AMNovember will solve the problem. No matter what they pass, it will be repealed. We'll pay for this for presidency for years. They have manipulated the numbers, and then set this bomb to go off long after they are out of office. Who will get blamed then?
regina on March 17, 2010 9:37 AMWhy do so many have such hatred for corporations and rich people? I say Thank God for wealthy people. I have always worked for wealthy people and most likely, so have you. I have never heard of a poor person creating jobs. I have never been hired by a poor person. I don't expect ever to be hired by a poor person. Do you?
Jimmy Mize on March 17, 2010 9:43 AMPlease everyone, go on www.foxnews.com/special report, and vote on the questions to be given to President Obama today in the interview with Bret Baier at 6pm eastern time. Don't give up fighting. Thanks
Connie Mahany on March 17, 2010 10:14 AMI have written many Representatives with the following message,
------------------------
Please vote NO on the health care bill
and the Slaughter "solution".
What is being done to get the health
care bill passed is just plain wrong.
The end does not justify the means.
------------------------
I have also been praying the prayer I wrote when Clinton was in office:
Father, we come before you in this time of national distress, when evil men abuse the power of their offices, when cowards stand by and do nothing, when justice is denied the common man, and our very Constitutional order and the peace of the world are threatened, beseeching You to have mercy upon us and to act, for we have no advocate but You, there is none other to save but You. Awaken Your Church to be the salt and light of the world as You commanded. Raise it up and turn this nation back to its foundations, even the Rock upon which it was founded, that it yet again may be the light on the hill and that Your Name may be glorified.
Craig on March 17, 2010 10:25 AMI too have been writing my Senators and Congressman and telling them that I'll be voting against them if they vote for this insane current version of health care reform. Like others, I usually get the same canned responses that make it obvious they're not getting the message. I fear they're going to ram this thing down our throats and we're going to have to follow through with our threats of voting them all out of office.
Rob Robinson on March 17, 2010 10:36 AMYes, we pledge to do all that we can to bring America back to what she used to be. We live in California and, unfortunately, have 2 Senators who wish only to be part of the ruling class in the coming socialist regime... But they do know where we stand - our dociers just keep getting thicker! At least our Congressman (Ken Calvert) stands with us!!
Bruce and Ginger on March 17, 2010 11:20 AMWhat has happened to our country. There is no more regard for the Constitution? This is the U.S.A!!! I am very concerned what is happening. To disregard the wish of the people is a sure way to back fire on them when November comes. I will write the Officials and tell them to remember November!!!
Mike on March 17, 2010 12:24 PMOur house pledges 3 votes against the IDIOTS in DC.
What kind of idiots make old people work many more years while they try to live long enough to reach retirement? Meanwhile, many people are out of work who could use the jobs old people have to keep to hopefully retire with income that will be enough to supply food.

This SUPERMAN should run for PRESIDENT!

Tom Slack on March 17, 2010 2:02 PMIn my opinion we need term limits. We have Professional Politicians running our country instead of Patriots
I'm sorry that Mr. Abel hasn't got all the facts and tends to support the socialistic agenda of our preaident and a large amount of congress.
Buddy Barker on March 17, 2010 4:57 PMI will continue to bombard my elected officials with email and I will also participate in the tea party movement along with numerous other conservative organizations.
I also have a blog at http:/graspingour freedom.blogspot.com and also a Facebook account at TAKE BACK AMERICA.
Do you think it is ok for gov't employees in Utah not to pay taxes? And they can't be arrested for it. Did the IRS quit, or is Utah their own country?
Erin on March 17, 2010 5:07 PMWhere were all you Patriots defending the Constitution while Cheney, Bush, Rumsfelt, and the rest of those other "great American Patriots" were robbing this Republic? Cheney and Rumsfelt ran a "shell game " in the Department of Defense for forty years plus, as supposed national security experts. Where were the complaints from Glenn Beck and Brother Rush then? Perhaps they had some stock in Halliburton too, or even more scarey Blackwater.
Barry E.-Laredo,TX on March 17, 2010 6:35 PM@Barry E. from Laredo
Barry,
Dude, you can't make a post like you did here and expect anyone to believe what you say without proof. Go ahead and offer up the proof of how the men you mentioned robbed the Republic.
Your statement rings hollow with me until such time as you offer up evidence.
Tim Carter on March 17, 2010 6:40 PMResponding to "my hollow statement", a minimal of reseach reveals the positions that Cheney and Rumsfelt each held in the Defense Department in different administrations from Nixon, Ford, and both the Bush tenures. I may well be a "dude", but certainly did not fall off a veggie truck when it rolled through Appalachia, and the ongoing investigations of Halliburton, Blackwater, and other "contractors" utilized by the Department of Defense with Rumsfelt and Cheney in positions of influence to award contracts speaks for itself in whom becomes the ultimate financial benefactors at our expense. Cheney and Rumsfelt "wrote the book' and instituted the privatizing of our military structure.
Barry E.-Laredo,TX on March 17, 2010 7:20 PMI will continue emailing, calling, marching on DC, attending Tea Parties, and contributing dollars as I am able to conservative candidates for service to The People. I am so tired of the self-serving principles and lack of ethical behavior embedded in our current political process. I am also reading and learning everything I can about the Constitution so that I will know when it is being trampled upon. How do We the People start the process to remove the unconstitutional laws and procedures that have been allowed to pass? I want on that train!
Lois Glavin on March 17, 2010 10:59 PMPlease, everyone who is pledged to do something, do not rest if Obama's current health plan fails to pass. Some form of health care relief will pass and Republicans have to formally propose legislation to accomplish this. I have sent the following to my Representatives (it's useless to contact the present two Senators):
I am very concerned that if Obama healthcare, as proposed, does not pass, that Republicans will miss a golden opportunity. There should be a Republican, comprehensive healthcare bill submitted and well publicised that provides some help to people who cannot afford healthcare and that incorporates the various Republican points previously submitted. Such a bill should be 250 pages or less and take effect within six months of enactment - not three or more years in the future, after years of taxation without benefits and after Obama is no longer President.
The press releases and public speaking opportunities should be saying in effect:
1. The Obama plan was too expensive and too onerous for most citizens;
2. The Republican proposal is available on-line; has been submitted to the Senate and House; is easy to understand; and provides realistic relief for millions of people;
3. Unlike the Obama plan, Republicans want to provide help now for the people who need help the most; and
4. If our resouces permit expansion of this program after we have seen how these ideas work, we can add further benefits, but the need is now and this is what we can afford.
When the Obama plan has been thoroughly analyzed, a short, readable report should be made available to the public that points to specific flaws and the pages where the actual language of the 2700 page Democrat proposal can be read by any interested person. The Republican proposal I envision should be immediately submitted and circulated to the public at every opportunity.
If such a bill already exists, I would have to conclude that publicity for such a clearcut alternative has been nonexistent.
Robert Tingler on March 17, 2010 11:02 PMI do not believe we would have the photo finish we are now experiencing if the above approach had been used from the beginning.
Whatever it takes ....
Rick on March 18, 2010 12:58 AMTim, I love what you are doing.I will continue to emaiil and call my reps.
I don't think hearing aids would help. I think that thier ears are painted on.
Thanks
Ken Riley on March 18, 2010 10:37 AMtoday I pray, for the next day i may have to ask God to help me fight.I will pray for ~Obama~ and the rest of the partys out their.their will be a shout heard around the world and the Lord is ready for this country to revolt and get back to our roots..Gods Peace to you tim, please keep writing, maybe a book someday :{)
eric van on March 18, 2010 11:05 AMI really think that your absolute first order of business should be to procure an axe or saw and go cut down some trees so you can see the forest! To call Obama the worst president after you've had an idiot like George Bush is insane!!!!!
Carl Braun on March 18, 2010 8:38 PMWhat is best for our country? That the people, not the politicians and their personal agendas be heard. This is the United States of America.
Next, there is a reason why 71% of all doctors do not belong to the AMA and do not support this healthcare reform.(They belong to the AAPS). We are hearing about doctors jumping ship left and right. We know right now that if this passes, at least 25% of physicians will stop caring for Medicare patients. You have to know that means that they will retire before the healthcare system comes into effect. We already had the numbers that by 2011 49% of physicians are at retirement age. We are hearing older doctors checking to see if they can retire early now. The shortage of physicians is already at worse than crisis level. There will honestly, not be enough physicians to cover the 30 million more expected to have coverage because of the sheer numbers.(By the way, roughly 50% of the patients who come into our hospital are uninsured, and get medical care like everyone else).
I will continue to write everyone I can. There is a tea party in our area on tax day which I will go to. I will continue to write and call politicians in our area, and make sure we keep telling them all the TRUTH every chance we get. Spiritually, we will keep praying and fasting for our country. This is the first time I have ever been afraid for the United States of America. Lastly, we are taking an online class on the Constitution, so we can understand how to best represent our country better than we have in the past.
Thank you for the honor of letting our voice be heard.God Bless you, Tim!
Connie Mahany on March 19, 2010 10:00 AMIt is refreshing to read comments from a more diverse and informed(by reading, not watching Beck and Limbaugh on TV)group of participants in this forum. The "zealot-based" repetition of hollow political "talking points" about Christian values and adherence to our Republic's founding values gets boring. Now all we need to do is get the intestinal fortitude to prosecute Dick Cheney and the rest of the "puppet show" to see if we can recover some of the resources that they wasted under the guise of national security. Then, financing any domestic program, including health care would not even be an issue.
Barry E.-Laredo,TX on March 19, 2010 4:18 PMDear Tokem on March 19, 2010, I will respect your answer, although I disagree. I am a registered nurse and my husband is a doctor. I get my facts from medical publications, not Glenn Beck, and I was a Christian long before Glenn Beck and all the others were on Fox News. I watch many news stations, because I want to know diversity, just as you. The numbers I have used come from The Census Bureau, and medical publications such as JAMA, and the Harvard Newsletter. I have also read articles from the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons, which represents 71% of doctors in this country. So, I think we must agree to disagree, on the labeling you have given to me.
Connie Mahany on March 19, 2010 9:04 PMI too, respectfully, will decline to help you Tim.
Except for Robert on 3/17 the comments here against healthcare do not offer any solution to the problem. In fact they really don't even address specifically what they dislike about the bill. Just a lot of angry idological talk that could be substituted for any cause or person that you dislike. Please remember that Glen Beck, Rush, Bill Mahar, Huffington and all the rest on the tube, left and right, are entertainers pushing for ratings. It's a shame that they are often raised to deity level.
Robert, it is terribly unfortunate that your thoughts are ignored in forums like these. Your ideas should be considered but they should have been discussed much earlier. Unfortunately, if this bill does not pass, I do expect any meaningful action on healthcare for several years.
John C on March 19, 2010 11:55 PMPS to Tokem: thanks for the link on "deem and pass". People forget just how hypocritical politicians (in this case republicatians) are. Oh, and where were the Tea Partiers when the *unfunded* prescription drug legislation was passed a few years ago.
I haven't seen much difference in either party for many years. They[the politicians] all do what benefits they're own agenda. This is the time this is the place for true Americans to stand up and say,"NO MORE"! The tea party was ignored by our elected officials for awhile but now they see this movement isn't going away. There is also another organization hellbent on giving the government of our wonderful nation back to the people. It's called Get Out Of Our House [GOOOH] and is pronounced GO! It's a simple but very workable plan to replace the entire congress with people who actually will uphold the Constitution. Take a look at www.goooh.org. Thank you all for wanting to defend and retake our Freedom!
