Small Arms Treaty and Second Amendment Rights
Read the Second Amendment of the US Constitution and it's pretty clear. You and I are allowed to "keep and bear" guns. However, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton seems to want to bypass this basic tenet by having us as a signatory to the Conference on Arms Trade Treaty.
Read the story about this at the Reuters website, and you'll shake your head. My take on this is very simple. It's akin to trying to turn an aircraft carrier at sea ever so slowly.
What I mean is that shrewd politicians who want to change the direction of a nation do it in a very slow way so as to cloak their real intentions. Radical movements attract attention. Slow and thoughtful tweaks of policy or position usually don't get citizens upset.
But over time, and in some cases this can be decades, the small movements add up to a major change. I believe this action on this topic is one of these.
I'm not the first to talk about the Progressive movement trying to achieve a goal over generations. Those who are behind this dedicate themselves to knowing that in their lifetime the ultimate goal may not be achieved. They sacrifice themselves on the altar of the Progressive Movement to be one more building block. Think of it as chapters in a book.
Hilary Clinton and Barrack Obama want to be named in the title of one of these chapters. They're on their way to accomplishing this now. You and I need to stop their progress by electing officials who place our Constitution FIRST and those rights desired by other countries in the World SECOND.
I don't know about you, but most people in the World don't care about us and our beliefs, so why should we put on center stage here in the USA all of the beliefs of others? It's time to stop this silliness of trying to satisfy everyone. It's just not possible.
Why Oh why would we want to do this? Russia and China won't sign the treaty, so will the arms that flow from those two nations to the terrorists stop? No, they won't. We all need to wake up.

elections are wonderful, signed statements of intent are wonderful too. However we need a recall method per state to jerk the carpet out from under anyone who lies their way into office by hoodwinking the electorate. Can you name one??? I am SICK of this crap, lies and deception, and I'm sure not alone. How long before Concord Bridge repeats ??
robert bayer on April 30, 2010 11:01 AMThe United States of America has undergone (notice I didn't say is undergoing) a coup d'etat, and most Americans, including those who helped to bring it about, don't know it. If you don't believe it, just try to bring an action such as a demand under the Public's Right to Know Act or one such as the class action that is being pursued by one (admirable) candidate. Before the '08 election I read an essay regarding the rise of Hitler I that was written long before William Ayers ghost wrote a book that George Soros bought up by the millions. I began trying to warn people that the phenobamanenon was on the same track--catch a nation that is in irreversible economic disaster and become its dictator. When they scoffed, I answered that citizens of the most culturally and intellectually advanced society on earth in the early 20th century thought it could never happen to them, either!
But here's the crux of my comment: No matter how justifiable or honorable the cause is, rebellion, Civil War II, or revolution CANNOT happen!!! That would be playing into the hands of those (and there are more than you can imagine)societies who would love to see the downfall and takeover of this land by some "world government." As difficult as it will become soon, we still have the chance to retake control of the country in November, 2010 the American Way! Don't let this opportunity get away or it very well may be the LAST one.
Chuck Lambert on April 30, 2010 2:31 PMI believe you are refering to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) not the Small Arms Treaty. This is a treaty that relates to international arms trade. Tying it to a violation of the 2nd Amendment is a stretch.

These are just a handful of the Democrats whose political careers Obama has destroyed! By the end of 2010 dozens more will be! In December of 2008 the Democrats were on the rise. In the last two election cycles they had picked up 14 senate seats and 52 house seats.
The press was touting the death of the Conservative Movement and the Republican Party. In one year Obama put a stop to all of this and will probably give the house, if not the senate back to the Republicans.
He has completely exposed liberals and progressives for what they are. Every generation seems to need to relearn the lesson on why they should never actually put liberals in charge. He is bringing home the lesson very well!
Liberals tax, borrow and spend - check
Liberals won't bring themselves to protect America - check
Liberals want to take over the economy - check
Liberals think they know what is best for everyone - check
Liberals aren't happy till they are running YOUR life - check
He has brought more Americans back to conservatism than anyone since Reagan.
In one year he rejuvenated the Conservative Movement and brought out to the streets millions of Freedom Loving Americans.
Name me one other time in your life that you saw your friends and neighbors this interested in taking back America !
In all honesty one year ago I was more afraid than I had ever been in my life. Not of the economy, but of the direction our country was going. I thought Americans had forgotten what this country was all about. My neighbors, friends, strangers proved to me that my lack of confidence of the greatness and wisdom of the American people was flat out wrong.

So, Lets Recap "2009".........what a year! WOW!!!
1. The American people inaugurate a half-Arab president with a total of 142 days experience as a US Senator from the most politically corrupt state (city) in America whose governors have been ousted from office. The President's first official act is to order the close of Gitmo and make sure terrorist's civil rights are not violated. (Honest mistake?)
2. The U.S. Congress rushes to confirm a black Attorney General, Eric Holder, whose law firm we later find out represents seventeen Gitmo Terrorists. (An honest mistake?)
3. The CIA Boss appointee, Leon Panetta, has absolutely no experience, has a daughter Linda, we find out, who is a true radical anti-American activist and a supporter of all the Anti-American regimes in the western hemisphere. (There were socio-economic factors involved!)
4. We got the second most corrupt American woman (Pelosi is #1) as Secretary of State; bought and paid for. (You can put lipstick on a pig, but it still stinks!)
5. We got a Tax Cheat for Treasury Secretary who did not properly file his own taxes for 12 years. (He misspoke!)
6. A Commerce Secretary nominee who withdrew due to corruption charges. (Another honest mistake???)
7. A Tax cheat nominee for Chief Performance Officer who withdrew under charges. (Hmmm... Another screw-up?)
8. A Labor Secretary nominee who withdrew under charges of unethical conduct. (Ok, maybe this person was just plain stupid.)
9. A Secretary HHS nominee (Daschle) who withdrew under charges of cheating on his taxes. (I'm running out of excuses for these idiots!!)
10. Multiple appointments of former lobbyists after an absolute campaign statement that no lobbyists would be appointed. (Dear God, I am getting a headache!)
All this occurred just during the first three weeks. . . But who's counting?
America is being run by the modern-day Three Stooges; Barry, Nancy and Harry and they are still trying to define stimulus..."it's spending!!!"
The congress passes the $800,000,000,000 (that's $800 billion) pork-loaded spending bill where the government gives you a smidgen of your tax dollars ($13 per week), making you feel so good about yourself [stimulated], that you want to run out to Wal-Mart and buy a new Chinese-made HDTV!
Only with the Liberals...

Here's the good news though - Obama took Air Force One to Denver to sign the stimulus package, wasting as much as 10,000 gallons of fuel OR 24 JOBS FOR ONE YEAR. Don't you just love hypocrites?
Obama went to the International Olympic Committee to have them choose Chicago for a host city, he failed.
Obama went to Copenhagen to lecture them on global warming, he failed.
Obama went to New Jersey to promote the Democratic candidate for governor, he failed.
Obama went to Virginia to promote the Democratic candidate for governor, he failed.
Obama went to Massachusetts to promote the Democratic candidate for senator, he failed.
Speaking of praying, Obama has now been president for a full year and yet he & wife (first lady) Michelle, the Christian family they claim to be, have not attended church since the inauguration.
Obama is the 1st president in history who did not attend any Christmas religious observance. He must miss Reverend Wright!
And finally, he is the 1st president to remain on vacation after a terrorist attack.
In these times 'I'll keep my God, my freedom, my gun and my money.
Anyone that supports this insanity can keep "THE CHANGE".

In response to Blueburb's analogy, where were you my friend when Cheney, Bush, and their Halliburton buddies were buiding all those factories in China and the "Burger-Kings" in Bagdad? We funded that crazy cabal agenda for eight years, and now we have to suffer the consequence of paying for our "quiet consent" and complacency, while we were being "used" and robbed by corporate criminals.

James Bell on May 16, 2010 6:09 AMOK, I read the Reuters link and the thing I shake my head about is how anyone could think this is a Second Amendment issue. Will export controls reduce the availability of guns within the US? Doesn't seem like it. Are foreign made guns (vs. American-made ones) desirable for US consumers? Some high-end ones are, but they would still be available. Do we want our enemies to have fewer AK knockoffs? Yes.
Maybe I'm missing the conspiracy here, but I'm just not that threatened.

Obama signed an open carry law for lots of local parks..... even the VP has a gun collection.
