Solyndra Solar Panel Scandal

Don't you wish you had a time machine? One that would allow you to go back in time and be there when politicians spout off all of their campaign promises?

What did the Democratic candidate, then Senator Obama, say about how he was going to clean up Washington? Wasn't it something about "fundamental changes"?

Or was it how it wasn't going to be "business as usual in Washington"?

I'm pretty certain it was along those lines.

Well, maybe, just maybe we were interpreting those statements the WRONG way! Maybe he didn't lie to us!

I maintain that President Obama knew all along that he was going to make things WORSE.

That corruption was going to be fundamentally different. That pillaging of our National Treasury was going to be worse by a factor of 10 or 20.

Can't you just wait to see the review of all the files, computers, etc. that the FBI took away from Solyndra? Hopefully forensic analysts will develop a clear picture of where the $500,000,000+ given to Solyndra Solar was spent?

Think about this for a moment. You did know I used to be a builder, right? So let's say you're the CEO of Solyndra. You just get a FREE $500,000,000 or so. You need to build a plant.

What happens if you hire a bunch of fake consultants (friends, relatives, campaign fund-raiser friends, etc.), construction managers, pay double for materials or other things and then get kickbacks from these people.

Let's take it a step further. Let's say that you, the CEO, direct the CFO, to make deposits in secret offshore accounts. Let's say the owners of those accounts won't access them for years after they've vacated their square, rectangular and oval-shaped DC offices.

Read this story about Solyndra from the ABC news website. It's about time the mainstream media is starting to lift up the rocks surrounding the Solyndra plant to see what slimy creatures are living there.

Oh, and you need to watch this developing story. It's already getting worse. Look what I just found on the FoxNews website. It's another Solyndra story about how our Administration wanted to give them even more money. This Solyndra thing could go all the way to the top. Cool!

Comments

This Solyndra problem is just one of so many that we have. Look at the weapons thing at the border! This White house has one thing in mind for this country and that is socialism. There are so many young people involved with this so called march who apparently don't know history. Look at the ages of most of those who it seems are against everything in America. There was one girl holding a sign that said something regarding Communism. This girl does not have the foggiest idea about what Communism is and what it would mean to her. The Berlin wall is communism. Ask the people who lived in Poland, Hungary, and a host of other countries. Talk to the relatives who had friends and family die trying to get over that wall. That is only part of communism. If one does not know history than you really will screw up.

Robert Neveux on October 8, 2011 8:20 AM

Just more business as usual in the Obama administration. Also the normal political blame game where you blame everybody else and nobody is ever held accountable.

James Anderson on October 8, 2011 9:09 AM

Glad to see you back at the fire pit Tim.
As bad as this Solyndra scandal is, I don't think anything will come of it.

BobInVA on October 8, 2011 9:47 AM

It seems that the government is so desperate to have "green energy" with no oil, coal or gas, that they are willing to give as much money (taxpayers money) to company to be squandered as necessary to prove that green energy is possible. Hence, the Chevy Volt. The gov is willing to subsidize it in about 13 ways and will do everything possible to make consumers buy these things that don't run very far without needing a charge...and they forget that it takes ELECTRICAL PLANT POWER to recharge them. This is not American government. This is stupidity.

David Gray on October 8, 2011 9:57 AM

Tim

Good to hear your biz is rebuilding.

Concerning Obama, only those with an agenda or those hearing and vision impaired voted for him.

Aside from all his associations and voting record, or lack there of, what I remember most about the "yes we can" Obama compaign, is his administration would be transparent. Oh, he failed to mention however, x-ray vision needed to fully see policy intent.

Bill on October 8, 2011 10:03 AM

Solyndra, hmmm, just another version of pork, enabled by money made out of thin air. I am FAR more worried about "Fast and Furious" the gun running scheme by our government that has killed hundreds already, and that the media is barely covering. Fiat money can be replaced, it is every day, but people can't be.

WayneB on October 8, 2011 10:14 AM

I have no doubt it goes to the top! Isn't that generally where slime flows from? It is just one more disgraceful mark against our leaders. Yet we still must remember that we are told in the Bible that we are to pray for those who have been appointed by God over us. We don't have to like what they are doing and we can work hard for change, but we MUST pray for them!

Bruce Beasley on October 8, 2011 10:55 AM

go man go, let's get these liars and rat's out of their nests

Harold Flynn on October 8, 2011 11:15 AM

Hi Tim,
Good article - thx...Joe

j luttrell on October 8, 2011 11:44 AM

Tim: I did not get any email links from the Firepit and thought you may had stopped generating them. I guess I was too lazy to search the site. Anyway, here I am. As an Electrical Engineer (worked in generating portable power for 30 years) I know the solar panels are far away like fuel cells are. Maybe if we went back to Direct Current power and could do away with the clouds and dust and pits on the cells, maybe they could be useful. Oh, I for got the necesssary batteries requires for over night use of electricity. john

John on October 8, 2011 12:10 PM

I just wonder how much more that the Emir has already
stolen from the American people--please let us know as
the main- stream media seems to be avoiding this. No
wonder that FOX news is increasing their share of the
news. !! Please vote !

Roger on October 8, 2011 12:25 PM

OUR DEBT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW WITH DEALS LIKE THIS. TEA PARTY WIL TAKE BACK THE CONGRESS

F DRAKE on October 8, 2011 12:35 PM

Business as ususal?
Where's the Justice Department?

Pat on October 8, 2011 1:11 PM

Welcome back Tim! I've been pretty busy myself. Laying ceramic floor tile throughout our home while trying to keep up on all the Tea Party news and all the many many Democrat Party shenanigans!!! Again, WELCOME BACK!!!

David Hurd on October 8, 2011 1:57 PM

The "developing story" is a couple of weeks old. I will assume that this is due to your being occupied with other matters.

Jim on October 8, 2011 3:48 PM

Is this the first Fire Pit you've done in awhile ??? This is the first one I've rec. seems like months.......

Mona Greer on October 8, 2011 4:18 PM

Been missing your firepit notes. Didn't know why. As to Solyndra, whatever happened to investigative journalism? Where is a good muckraker when you really need one? Are they all Liberals now?

Ted Arrington on October 8, 2011 5:14 PM

This Solyndra scandal should go all the way to the top. Only the guy at the top will never accept the blame for anything. The placard on his desk should read, "The buck stops somewhere else".
The Firepit is good stuff, Tim! Keep it coming! Please!

Dr. George Ellwanger on October 8, 2011 5:19 PM

Your doing a great job. We need more people like you to get more involved.

R.C. Thrasher on October 8, 2011 5:54 PM

Tim - You have drifted a bit from those "Ask the Builder" articles I first read in the Flint (MI) Journal many, many years ago.

I am not a "joiner" so I do not belong to any group, political party or other organization. I am free to change my mind and am free to think things out for myself.

It just so happens that I too am sick and tired of the "same-old-same-old" that spewes out of DC.

I like your "Fire Pit" so keep up the good work and God Bless You!

COMMENT BY: Tim Carter,

Bob,

Two things. First, you can DROP OUT of a group at any time if you discover the direction is changing. It's important that you do participate. We are at war.

Second, I still write my home improvement column. The Flint Journal dropped it years and years ago to save a whopping $15 a week.

Bob Borden on October 8, 2011 7:33 PM

I have been a subscriber to your Fire Pit articles for some time but lately have not received them. Similar to the previous time when you implied that I had not continued my association with your regular membership. Something seems to be missing on your side.

COMMENT BY: Tim Carter

Fred,

Didn't you read the email that gave you the link to this blog post? In it I said why I hadn't written to you in a while.

I was busy rebuilding my business and I got deeply involved as a co-leader of a New Hampshire Tea Party.

How is it you missed that?

Fred Fitch on October 8, 2011 7:56 PM

You're doing a great job, keep it up.

Pete Smith on October 8, 2011 9:28 PM

I'm glad to hear your doing better!!

Lou B. on October 8, 2011 9:29 PM

This is typical of what goes on at all levels of government.

Carl Fitch on October 9, 2011 6:20 AM

Hi, Tim! Welcome back. I think this administration may turn out to be "dirtier" than even the Clinton administration was. With Clinton, however, we knew it was going to be, because of his shady dealings as Arkansas governor. This current administration, however, no telling of how deep it will go or where it will stop.

Dan Fluegeman on October 9, 2011 11:12 AM

GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK!!!

Beverly Hajek on October 9, 2011 11:19 AM

Whosebone,
I agree, and have been supporting Mr. Cain for months.

BobInVa on October 9, 2011 11:47 AM

I pray that whomever we elect to defeat Obama has, in rebuilding our nation, the constitution of Atlas as well as the ability of Hercules cleaning the Augean stables to withstand the stench of corruption and the foulness of deceipt that the former POTUS has left behind. The new President has immense challenges to overcome in undoing the incredilbe damage that the traitor Obama has inflicted upon our great land.

Kevin Valentini on October 9, 2011 12:06 PM

I read your blog every time I receive it. Keep up the good work.

Thomas Kelly on October 9, 2011 9:04 PM

The political and economic news is so depressing that I look forward to your comments to cheer me up. Thank you.

Len Mordfin on October 9, 2011 9:18 PM

Thank you Tim for helping me to become more informed about what is happening with our government. It is scary. I believe in Justice so I want to believe that the corruption will be revealed and that the unjust will be punished.

Martha Staton on October 9, 2011 11:05 PM

Glad to see you back.

As bad as Obama and his ilk are, plus the idiots in Congress, what about the people who elected him and his cohorts to office? What's the matter with them? At the bottom of the mess seems to be a will of some majority to live beyond their means, personally and nationally, and the result is ultimately a disaster. When will these characters wake up and realize their futures are very small, because they have already spent and "lived" them in order to have "the great society" and all the political bribery programs that constitute gov't sponsored and gov't corrupted charity programs? I fear for this country when all the folks who think they are "entitled" to something find out they aren't going to get diddly after swallowing the voodoo economics behind their leaders' pipe dreams for decades.

Richard Anderson on October 9, 2011 11:09 PM

Nothing is going to change with the waste until we have term limits across the board. Then and only then will we have a chance of keeping people from voting themselves a free lunch.

Tim M on October 10, 2011 7:49 AM

Good work Tim, keep it up.

Will on October 10, 2011 9:19 AM

Glad you are feeling better

Lydia on October 10, 2011 11:37 AM

Keep up the good work.

Mimi on October 10, 2011 7:05 PM

Your actions as a modern day Paul Revere validate the words you speak. How refreshing. Thanks Tim, we need more like you.

john selig on October 11, 2011 2:13 AM

This kind of scheming and waste of taxpayer dollars has been going on since government was formed. It's just gained steam in recent decades. What scares me is that the media won't report the corruption because they are in awe of our current president and don't want to be "racist" by opposing anything he wants. They ignore what's going on and will hypnotize those who don't think for themselves into believing all is well.

Sharon on October 11, 2011 6:40 PM

Thank for keeping us up to date. Perhaps the sheeple will wake up and realize the fleecing the government is doing to them.

George on October 13, 2011 8:56 AM

Tim,

Glad you are well and continuing the Fire-Pit. I enjoy reading your stories and comments.

JG on October 13, 2011 10:43 AM

Tim- you should google Bruce Krasting and read some of what he's written about Solyndra. He broke the story (before they filed)on the ZeroHedge website.

bill a on October 17, 2011 10:46 PM

Appreciate the candid comentary, thanks Tim

Rick on October 18, 2011 11:14 PM

Tim: If your printed the word fire pit at the bottom of your regular E mails, you might not be asked what has happened to the fire pit!!!

Bob Neveux on October 19, 2011 7:27 AM

Neil Orsini, the program that lent Solyndra money was enacted by congress and signed by President Bush. If the Solyndra loan was a bad risk it has nothing to do with "checks and balances", which are functioning just fine.

Richard Anderson on November 13, 2011 9:30 AM

The more I hear about this Solyndra stuff the more angry I get. Our socialist president should be hung from a tree.
